Stacey Lambour, DNP, PMHNP

Founder of Caritas Counseling & Psychiatric Services

Counselor • Psychiatric Provider • Relationship & Personal Growth Coach

I’m Dr. Stacey Lambour — board-certified PMHNP, founder of Caritas Counseling & Psychiatric Services, and author of The Art of Caritas (Spring 2027).

I built this practice around a single belief: that the patterns keeping you stuck are not character flaws. They are survival strategies. And they can change.

Who I Serve

My Mission

At the heart of this practice is caritas — Latin for love. Not love as sentiment, but love as a deliberate, practiced orientation toward yourself and others.

Everything here is organized around the Caritas Aligned™ framework: Awareness, Accountability, and Attunement. Whether you are navigating a clinical mental health need or a deeper relational and personal reckoning, the work is the same — learning to choose love, starting with yourself, even when it is hard.

What I Offer

Something in you knows the pattern needs to change

Maybe you’ve tried to understand it. Maybe you’ve been in therapy, read the books, done the work — and something still keeps repeating. The relationships. The exhaustion. The way you lose yourself and don’t notice until there’s almost nothing left.

That is not a failure of effort. It is a gap between insight and integration — between knowing what the pattern is and having a nervous system that finally feels safe enough to do something different.

That gap is exactly what this practice was built to close.

Caritas Counseling & Psychiatric Services offers two pathways — clinical care and coaching — organized around a single framework: the Caritas Aligned™ approach to Awareness, Accountability, and Attunement.

Psychiatric & Mental Health Care

Evidence-based clinical care including diagnostic evaluation, medication management, and psychotherapeutic support. Available in Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Caritas Coaching™

Relational transformation, emotional healing, and conscious change grounded in the Caritas Aligned™ framework. Available worldwide.

Both pathways begin with the same question: what would it take for you to finally feel at home in yourself and your relationships?

What we do

Most people don't need more information. They need something to change.

At Caritas Counseling & Psychiatric Services, we work with people who are tired of circling the same patterns — in their relationships, their emotional lives, and the quiet story they tell themselves about why things are the way they are.

The Caritas Aligned™ framework integrates clinical psychiatric care, attachment-based therapy, and conscious coaching into a coherent approach to lasting change. Not just symptom management. Not just insight. A practice you can actually live inside.

We meet you where you are. We work toward where you want to be. And we do not pretend that is a simple or quick process — because it is not. But it is possible. And it is worth doing.

Sessions are offered in-person and virtually for residents of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. Whether you are new to therapy or have been circling the same terrain for years, we will work together to build a treatment plan that is personalized, nonjudgmental, and rooted in the Caritas Aligned™ framework — so that insight becomes something you can actually live inside of, not just understand.

Emotional mastery is not a personality trait — it is a practice. Whether through therapy or coaching, you will learn to identify, understand, and work with your emotional responses rather than being run by them. This is where the nervous system finally gets the education it never received.

Together we explore how psychiatric medication may — or may not — support your healing, integrated with skills for emotional regulation, trauma recovery, and lifestyle stabilization. Follow-ups are consistent, collaborative, and rooted in education, not just prescription management.

Whether you are dating, partnered, or healing from past relational wounds, this work helps you identify the unconscious patterns driving your choices, communicate from a place of Self rather than survival, and build relationships grounded in mutual accountability and genuine emotional safety — not just the performance of it.

Sessions are available nationwide and internationally, and can be combined with clinical care or offered independently. Caritas Coaching is forward-moving, spiritually grounded, and built on the Caritas Aligned™ framework — practical skill-building that moves you from insight into actual change, in your relationships, your self-concept, and the daily choices that shape both.

True healing is not compartmentalized. Clinical expertise, spiritual grounding, and the practical wisdom of lived experience belong in the same room. This is where we integrate what you have learned about your patterns with what your body, your faith, and your relationships are telling you — so that change is not just cognitive but embodied, not just individual but relational, not just temporary but structurally different from what came before.

Compassionate care for emotional healing and growth

Sessions are offered virtually and are available to residents of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. Whether you’re just beginning therapy or looking for deeper emotional integration, we’ll work together to create a treatment plan that’s personalized, nonjudgmental, and rooted in your values and goals.

Support that’s balanced, personalized, and trauma-informed

Together, we’ll explore how psychiatric medications may (or may not) support your healing—while integrating skills for emotional regulation, trauma recovery, and lifestyle stabilization. Follow-ups are consistent and supportive, and I always prioritize collaboration and education in our care.

Relationship & self-worth coaching for emotional maturity and soulful living

Sessions are available nationwide and internationally, and can be combined with therapy (if eligible) or offered on their own. Coaching is forward-moving, spiritually grounded, and based on practical skill-building that aligns with your values and emotional truth.

Tools for regulation, resilience, and relational clarity

You don’t rise above what you can’t regulate. That’s why emotional mastery is central to all of our work. Whether through therapy or coaching, you’ll learn to identify, understand, and regulate emotions with clarity and confidence.

Healing patterns, building boundaries, and co-creating emotional safety

Whether you’re dating, partnered, or healing from past relationship wounds, I help you identify unconscious patterns, communicate with integrity, and build relationships rooted in mutual respect and emotional responsibility.

Bridging soul, psyche, and science

We integrate spiritual insight, clinical expertise, and personalized practices so you can grow beyond survival and into authentic wholeness. This is where self-trust deepens, boundaries become sacred, and healing becomes sustainable.

You've been trying to figure this out for a long time.

The insight is real. The effort has been real. And something is still not shifting — not because you haven’t worked hard enough, but because understanding a pattern and having a nervous system that can finally do something different are not the same thing.

That gap is closeable. This is where we start.

Testimonials

R.K
What a great meeting you & I had yesterday!!! Thank you so much for helping me to see that I need to “step aside.” I felt much better equipped to do that when I visited my family right after meeting with you! I could be loving & empathetic but not get pulled into their perseverating about the past, etc. I “sweetened the deal” with a mini pie, some greeting cards, a new calendar, and a “memory book.” Bless you, for all the wisdom, insight and experience that God has imparted to you that you imparted to me! With much appreciation, and a big hug!

I have worked with Dr. Lambour for many years. She's patient, attentive and caring. I feel like I'm a person, not a patient. She worked diligently to find the right medications for me.
K.D
She diagnosed our son. He first began showing symptoms at age 6, but it wasn't until we found Stacey that he was accurately diagnosed, medicated, and his quality of life improved dramatically. All of this was wonderful, he did so well and even made the honor roll.
M. C.
“Stacey helped me through one of the most difficult times in my life. Her knowledge of medications, anxiety/depression, and thoughtful insight into my problem was life changing. She is a compassionate therapist and still helps me with anxiety issues and medication management as needed.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Caritas Counseling & Psychiatric Services is a self-pay practice. I do not participate directly with insurance companies — a decision that allows me to provide more personalized, private, and flexible care without the limitations, restrictions, or diagnostic labeling that insurance billing typically requires. You deserve care that focuses on healing, not just documentation.

Fees vary by service type and session length, and I will walk you through all pricing during your consultation. For those who wish to use out-of-network benefits, I am happy to provide a superbill for reimbursement submission. Payment is due at the time of service through a secure online platform.

Sessions are conducted virtually via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You will receive a private link via email or client portal prior to each appointment. Virtual sessions are clinically effective and often allow for a depth of work that feels more accessible in the privacy of your own space.

To get the most out of your time, I recommend joining from a quiet room where you feel emotionally safe. Headphones can help with privacy, and a journal nearby can be useful for note-taking or processing. A glass of water, a blanket, or a grounding object can help you stay centered. Give yourself a few minutes before and after to transition gently into and out of the work.

The most powerful sessions happen when you show up as you — not polished, not perfect, but present and open. Healing isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about making space for the truth, even when it’s messy or hard to put into words.

To deepen your progress, I encourage reflection between sessions. This might include journaling, practicing skills we discuss, or noticing how your patterns show up in daily life. You will get the most out of our work when you show up consistently, ask questions, share openly, and take honest responsibility for your part in the process.

Counseling focuses on emotional healing, trauma recovery, and resolving patterns that stem from your past. It often involves exploring your story, building insight, and developing regulation skills. It is ideal when you are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, or emotional dysregulation.

Coaching is forward-focused and grounded in the Caritas Aligned™ framework — Awareness, Accountability, and Attunement. We work on relational patterns, conscious communication, boundary development, and the deeper emotional work that shapes how you show up in every relationship in your life. Coaching is not mental health treatment and does not require a clinical diagnosis. It is available nationwide and internationally.

Medication management is offered only to residents of MD, VA, and WV. It includes psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, prescription support, and integration with therapeutic care. Medications are approached thoughtfully and holistically, always aiming to support — not suppress — your emotional growth.

Emotional healing and personal growth are nonlinear, layered processes. You may feel relief, discomfort, or clarity at different stages — and all of it is part of the journey. Expect to be met with compassion and professionalism, but also with honesty and accountability. This is not a space where you will be managed or placated. It is a space where you will be genuinely met.

I ask that you show up with openness, curiosity, and respect for our time together. This includes punctuality, consistent attendance, and emotional presence. If something isn’t working for you in our process, I welcome your feedback — our work is a co-creation, and I am here to support your autonomy and your healing.

Most people who come here have already done some version of the work. They have seen therapists, read the books, developed real insight into their patterns — and something is still not shifting. That is not a failure of effort. It is usually a gap between cognitive understanding and nervous system change — between knowing what the pattern is and having the conditions to actually do something different.

This practice is not standard talk therapy. The Caritas Aligned™ framework integrates attachment theory, IFS, family systems, and conscious coaching into a clinical approach that addresses not just what you think but how your body holds the pattern and how your relationships reflect it. If previous therapy gave you insight without integration, that is exactly where we pick up.

The consultation is the right place to bring this question directly. Tell me what has and hasn’t worked before. That information is where we start, not something to set aside.

No. Most of the people who come here are functioning well by most external measures. They are holding their lives together — often holding everyone else’s lives together too — while quietly carrying something that has not shifted despite their best efforts. They are not in crisis. They are in the long, exhausting middle of a pattern they can see but cannot seem to stop.

Clinical care is not only for people who are falling apart. It is for anyone whose interior life — their relationships, their emotional responses, their sense of self — is not matching the life they want to be living. If something is costing you more than it should, that is enough of a reason to come.

Our space is one of mutual respect, professionalism, and psychological safety. I maintain strong ethical and emotional boundaries to protect both your healing and the integrity of the relationship.

I ask that all clients refrain from aggressive, hostile, sexually inappropriate, or boundary-violating behavior. If you are in distress, that’s welcome — but behavior that compromises safety (mine or yours) will result in immediate boundary-setting or referral.

When we both show up with integrity, the work can go somewhere real.
